Glenn Wilson received his first guitar for his 14th birthday. He had originally wanted drums, but his mother felt that a guitar would not be quite as loud; little did she know! "It was an acoustic Yamaha guitar," Glenn stated. I've always had a sentimental attachment to my very first guitar. I kinda made a promise to myself that I'd wouldn't sell it. After all these years, I never have. In fact, I've used that exact guitar on my debut single 'Can't Seem To Let Go.' It sounds better than ever!"
After graduating from High School, Glenn went on to college. "At University I majored in Psychology. I've always been more of an observer; curious as to what made people tick. I continued playing guitar and writing songs during those years. Often before we went out to the bar, a group of us would sit around in a dorm room and take turns playing some guitar."
"I graduated from University and entered into the work force. Initially, I played at a bar in the city once a week. I've always enjoyed the thrill of performing in front of a live audience. I'd play some covers and try to slip in a song or two of my own. I've found the audiences were receptive to my material. This went on for a few years and then slowly I found that my dream of being a 'rock star' was fading away. Since music was my dream, unfortunately I had no back-up plan! I went from one mediocre job to another for a time. Eventually I just basically conformed and fell into the day to day routine," Glenn said.
"I decided to finally get my act together and get into the studio. I've had all these songs in my head for years and now I'm finally laying down some tracks. Experience has definitely played a role too. I didn't have as much patience when I was younger and now I'm taking the time to do it right. You learn that with age! Overall, I'm glad that I didn't go into the studio years ago to do an album. The recording technology has improved. I think my voice has improved. My guitar playing has improved. My song writing has also improved. Some songs that I would have recorded years ago don't make the cut today. I've become more selective I guess. It's nice that I have enough songs written that I have the opportunity to pick and choose. I've really come to appreciate quality. Whether it's in material goods, or service, or music. I want the same quality that I would expect from others to be in my own song writing and recorded music," stated Glenn.
"So what now? Well, right now I'm in the studio cutting tracks. I've really been enjoying the creative process. The plan is to slowly start releasing singles and then a full album. It's exciting and I'm hoping that my listeners will enjoy it too. When I'm writing or recording a song, it has to be up to my personal standards first. I focus on my part-the part I can control, which is the music of course- and I figure that if I'm pleased with it than there will be others out there who will like it too. And to those people who do like it - subscribe to my YouTube channel, 'GlennWilsonMusic'! All of the singles will be releasing on there so SUBSCRIBE! As the singles start to trickle out, they will be available at all online music stores like iTunes."
